Ain't My Type by The Conscious Outlaws

Ain't My Type by The Conscious Outlaws is an incredible song with very active guitars and bass throughout the whole song.  I love a bass line (distorted too) that is constantly moving and grooving.  The drums are very prominent and played with steadiness, groove and full of fills.  What a great rhythm section!  I just listened a ripping guitar solo in there, too!  The layered vocals are clear with a solid melody.  I can just feel the energy ripping through those instruments. I added this to the #AlternativeRock playlist.  You need to hear this!

Stronger Than Hate by Centerlink

Stronger Than Hate by Centerlink has big guitars, nice overall production, catchy hooks, soaring lead guitar soloing over heavy riffs and massive drums!  My favorite part of this song is the bridge that starts with the bass all alone, then being joined by the drums with a big fill and the guitars joining the bass with the riff...leading into the soaring solo. I added this to the #HeavyRock playlist.  Take a listen!

Slugger by Captain Monk

Slugger by Captain Monk is a song that has a great deal of attributes to it that are amazing.  Creativity, solid rhythm, extremely creative, upfront distorted bass, unusual lyrics and great production!  I'm very impressed with how he put all of it together.  I really enjoy the guitar work throughout, including guitar solos.  The vocals are very eccentric and often float around in the melody in easy-going fashion, and the harmonies still hit the mark with it.   I put this song on the #AlternativeRock playlist!  Check it out!

face. by Static Dress

face. by Static Dress has heavy blasting guitars, thick bass, well produced and performed drums and emotionally screaming vocals that contain a vocal melody blended between.  There is constant rhythm and tight performance among all of the instruments, making this a heck of a song that shouldn't go unnoticed.  The incredible rhythm doesn't shy away from aggressive drum fills.  Metalcore is probably a common genre placed on Static Dress's music. I put this on the #HeavyRock playlist.  Check out out!

Salt Circle by Eliza McLamb

Salt Circle by Eliza McLamb is an awesome discovery this morning.  This song is gentle, melodic, heart-felt, has strong acoustic guitar and incredible songwriting, and includes a very strong vocal.  This song reminds me of Norah Jones, but has a stronger edginess, especially when the chorus comes in. I added this to the #AcousticRock playlist.  Take a listen!

Where Did all the Humans Go? by VAN RAVEN

Where Did all the Humans Go? by VAN RAVEN is raw, honest and major punk energy.  It has that authentic ticked off energy with a catchiness in that chorus.  I love the scream at the end to finish off a heck of a song.  I love that she writes, records and produces her own music.  Doesn't get more authentic than that. I put this on the #PunkRock playlist!  Listen!

Proving Honest by Gleemer

Proving Honest by Gleemer is a introspective and emotional alternative rock song with meaningful lyrics that are sung gently that express the lyrics to the top degree.  The bass is solid and rhythmic with those steady drums, and the guitars intricately go through all of the emotions that a guitar can bring...including slow picking on the clean, then picking on the distortion, then moving to crunchy ringing chords. I'm adding them to the #AlternativeRock playlist.  Check them out!

Figure It Out by Portside Dive

Figure It Out by Portside Dive is a solid pop punk song with great melody and lyrics, a solid well-produced sound and loaded with great instrumental performance.  Plus, they are from my home state of Minnesota!  I might have to go see this band play live in Minneapolis sometime!  I learned about them and follow them on Threads, and it seems like they play a lot of local shows. I put them on the #PunkRock playlist.  Take a listen!

The Unknown by The Welcoming

The Unknown by The Welcoming is an awesomely heavy progressive rock song with active guitars, bass and drums and emotionally intense vocals.  It is catchy, very tight instrumentally, and there's never a moment for boredom.  The production is great! This is one of my favorites songs!  I put it on the #HeavyRock playlist.  Check it out!

weather // whether by Four Story Fall and Jeremy Abrams

weather // whether by Four Story Fall and Jeremy Abrams is a really cool pop punk rock song.  What really stands out to me is the heart-felt and meaningful lyrics sung with a well-crafted musicianship isn't too aggressive.  It even has a lead guitar solo later in the song. I will put this in the #PunkRock playlist.  Take a listen!

Demise by tricktheriddle

Demise by tricktheriddle is a fast-paced jamming rocker with blasting guitars/bass, punk-like drums with a thicker sound than the genre usually has, plus great intense vocals!  The sound quality is great! I'll put this on the #AlternativeRock playlist as the style mostly fits there.  Take a listen to judge for yourself!

Stolen Dreams by None So Vile

Stolen Dreams by None So Vile is a fast-paced screaming punk rock song that reminds me of what punk is all about.  Political anger at its finest.  I definitely hope that he can still use his voice after 2 and a half minutes of screaming. I will place this on the #PunkRock playlist.  Check it out!

Gravity by Montgomery Night

Gravity by Montgomery Night is a well written and performed alternative rock song.  The strong alto vocals shine in this song, pulling the song around with her melody and hooks.  The guitars are steady with solid rhythm and contain great filler/soloing.  The drummer did an incredible job playing just how the song needed...not overplaying but listening and doing exactly what is needed as the perfect backbone for this song. I'm adding song to the #AlternativeRock playlist.  Check it out!

iii by Darkest of Winter

iii by Darkest of Winter is a solid, heavy progressive rock song.  I love how the drums, bass and guitars all work together rhythmically and are ridiculously tight in performance.  I also enjoy how the song has definite separation when different parts of the song are introduced.  I enjoy a good surprise blast of guitars or the removal of that heaviness all of a sudden.  Even the vocals move from great melodies to metal growls. I will add this to the #HeavyRock playlist.  I highly recommend.  Take a listen!

The Devil’s in the Details by Sinseer

The Devil's in the Details by Sin Seer has an incredible build and blasts off with heavy metal.  The vocals are intense and emotional beyond words. The guitars add an incredible full distorted tone that fill up the stereo sound, the drums and bass are spot on.  The overall sound quality is high tier. I'm adding this song to the #HeavyRock playlist.  Take a listen!

Quarter to Nigh by Agency Panic

Quarter to Nigh by Agency Panic is a progressive rock song with incredible songwriting, awesome time signatures, and jaw-dropping performance.  The song really gives me a thick feeling of anxiety getting crushed by blasting guitars, pounding drums, rhythmic bass and vocals that can scream with the best of them.  The sound quality is also outstanding. I've added this to the #HeavyRock playlist.  Take a listen!

Lightborn by Exiled Hope

Lightborn by Exiled Hope is a solid metal track with heavy riffs and an impressive melodic alto vocal.  I love the symphonic aspects that add so much depth.  Fast-chugging alongside double-kick is an unbeatable formula for intensity...even with guitar solos at the forefont. I'm adding this to the #HeavyRock playlist!  Take a listen!

Death Bed Visions by Swan Porter

Death Bed Visions by Swan Porter is an incredible acoustic track played with delicate guitar and smooth alto heartfelt vocal.  The building of the chorus...then how it falls back down...hits just right.  The song was so carefully put together with some of the best songwriting and performance that an acoustic song can ask for. I will put this on the #AcousticRock playlist!  Check it out!

Choke by Titanosaur

Choke by Titanosaur is a fast-paced heavy chugging rock song with such gritty metal vocals that carry melody and his own signature sound.  I love the riffage and the guitar solo in the building bridge. I'm adding this song to the #HeavyRock playlist!  Check it out!

If Only for a Little While by Drawing on Scars

If Only for a Little While by Drawing on Scars has been one of my favorite rock ballads of all time.  The lyrics cut, the melody hooks, the instrumental performance is emotional in itself, and this band usually plays heavy alternative rock. I'm adding this song to the #AcousticRock playlist.  Take a listen!

12 Years by This Side of Anarchy

12 Years by This Side of Anarchy is easily one of my favorite punk rock songs in the punk rock space.  I love the metal-esque vocal on top of punchy punk guitars with angry lyrics that punch politics in the face.  I really enjoy this song specifically from him because of the catchy lyrics and hooking guitar parts.

Anhedonia by Citizen Audrey

Anhedonia by Citizen Audrey is a very well written and produced song that rocks hard without guitars, but the synths hit hard along with those pounding drums.  I love her vocal versatility...singing with great melody, but then emotionally screaming her heart out with metal-esque feels! This is getting placed on the #AlternativeRock playlist.  Check it out!

Another Year by Autumn Dawn Leader

Another Year by Autumn Dawn Leader is one of my favorite acoustic songs that I've heard.  Autumn Dawn Leader has such exceptional songwriting skills.  Her contralto vocal is candy to the ears.  This song hits like a ton of bricks with that acoustic guitar and those soul-crushing lyrics.  She often advertised herself as a folk artist, but this song is put together in a way that screams rock.  It's the emotional intensity. This song is added to the #AcousticRock playlist. Check it out!

Yet So Far by State of Illusion

Yet So Far by State of Illusion is an incredible progressive rock/metal song that has incredibly tight unusual rhythms, heavy blasting guitars and booming drums.  The whole album is incredible, too.  Tie this all in with soaring melodic vocals, I just can't get enough of this.  I also learned that they toured with some of my favorite bands in the past, including Staind and Breaking Benjamin.  How are they still an independent band? This is added to the #HeavyRock playlist.  Check it out!

A Thousand Times by Anne Magnolia

A Thousand Times by Anne Magnolia is her best work yet!  The lyrics cut deep, the vocals are emotionally pouring them out, the guitars sound amazing and the production is great.  I'm a huge fan of the guitar work, especially the soaring guitar solo.  The intricate clean parts are also spot on.  The love drums are well produced and steady.  This song is high-energy and trails off to a reflective feel, which really creates a full-ride through it all! This song has been added to the #HeavyRock playlist!  Check it out!
