Latest Discoveries features selected songs submitted by independent rock bands/artists around the world.

New Feature!

The site has another update to complete the new direction.  There are currently two playlists. Latest Discoveries  features the most recently discovered songs submitted by independent rock bands/artists around the world. Sensei's Choice features songs that personally hit home like a solid bo staff strike to the chest. If a song is submitted to the "Latest Discoveries" playlist that I personally love, I will add it to the Sensei's Choice playlist with a short blog about why!

Dr Wily Castle by Lame Genie

Dr Wily Castle by Lame Genie is currently the only available track via preorder for "Megaman 2: The Metal Album", and it is incredible!  I've always thought that the soundtrack for that 8-bit Nintendo game was amazing and quite possibly the best ever, but this band completely crushes it with incredible musicianship that pinpoints the high-difficulty recreation in metal format.  Metal with heavy melodic rock is perfect for this soundtrack.  The guitars are heavy, the melody is crisp, clear and screaming, the drums are fast, pounding, precise and energized, and the bass is active and thunderous.  I've read that they play a lot of live shows and knock lots of different video game cover songs out of the ballpark with precision. I'm putting this one the "Sensei's Choice" playlist because it hits like a bo staff to the chest!

Site Update

The Hidden Scrolls site has been updated!  The site is now taking submissions for songs from all rock bands/artists!  Congratulations to the bands/artists whose song makes the "Latest Discoveries" playlist!  If a song personally hits home like a solid bo staff strike to the chest, it will be added to the "Sensei's Choice" playlist as well.

Tasting Blood by Deer Fang

Tasting Blood by Deer Fang is ranks up there with one of my favorite songs (the whole album this is on, for that matter) that I've heard...and it's from an independent rock band from Canada!  The drummer is stellar, the guitars sound amazing, the bassist is solid and the vocals are incredible.  The production was very well done, capturing the essence of a heavy alternative rock band nearing metal.  The female-fronted vocals are melodic, forceful yet gentle as they are easy on the ears but can crush you.  Plus there are backup vocals that will growl and scream, giving that metal vibe along with those blasting guitars.
